Will connect any two skill over HDMI - it is NOT PS3-specific

[Anyone remembers the ancient "I am not going to spend a lot for this muffler" commercial?]
I'd like to start by making it clear that any HDMI 1.3 cable will work with a PS3 and that this specific HDMI cable will work with any device that needs one, be it a PS3 or not.
The 3-6 ft. are the optimum lengths to connect most electronics. I am really using 3 ft. cables whenever the collectively skill happen to be very close to each other.
Just in case someone may feel guilty for not paying a lot more for a premium brand, it should be stated that at this lengths - 3-6 ft., you will get as excellent a service from a no-brand cable as you would from a super-pricey rip-off. An HDMI 1.3x cable should be able to carry, error free, all the signal your electronic equipment may place out.
The FUD campaigns, trying to pull towards you buyers toward the more pricey brands make a series of claims. I will take up them, as they may apply to this specific cable.
- Signal attenuation is less over a more pricey cable. - Right, BUT that's irrelevant on a 3-6 ft. length. The HDMI consortium stated that even the cables that were not 'certified' as 'Category 2' or 'High-Speed' will meet the supplies at lengths of 6 ft. or less. At 3-6 ft., it would be a waste to consider an 'pricey' alternative. In addendum, the newer skill have ample dispensation power and are insightful enough to properly interpret even the more ambiguous 'digits' they receive.
- The pricey cables are better engineered and their contacts are less likely to break. - Right, BUT how many times is one going to plug/unplug an HDMI cable in and out of an HDMI socket over the cable's lifetime? 5 times? 10 times? The 'better engineered' claim has no practical importance. If your cable works on 'day one' the odds are that it will be left in the back of your box for many months or years before it is unplugged and plugged back in. If this cable is bought for home use, the 'better engineered' claim should not be of a major concern.
- The more pricey cables are 'future proof'. - NOT Right. Claims are made that, if you buy the more pricey wires you won't have to buy new ones when 'new standards' emerge because the more pricey wire will support them. This is untrue on 2 different levels. First, your cheap cable was bought to work with some very specific skill which need HDMI 1.3 and will never support the 'new standard'. The new standards will be supported by new electronic skill but, for as long as you keep the existing ones, you will still need this cable to connect them. Second, the emerging HDMI 1.4 specs call for new features such as an Ethernet channel and an audio return channel, both of which can't be supported by the existing HDMI 1.3 cables so, no matter how large a bandwidth the existing pricey cables may support, it won't matter because you still won't able to use them if you are to take full financial support of an HDMI 1.4 device so... there goes your $5 invesment or... your $200, depending on your having bought a 'cheap' or a 'top of the line' HDMI cable.

My personal encounter: I've never paid 'a lot' for an HDMI cable because it makes no sense to pay more. I took home one of the 'pricey' ones once because the salesman promised to take it back if I wasn't amazed by the alteration. It made zero alteration and I returned it. |
Excellent Buys

This is going to be small but sweet. These generic HDMI cables are exponentially cheaper and work just as well as the $100+ Playstation name brand. Save your money!
Works very well.

First of this is my first review on amazon though I have bought an abundant amount of items from this website. I felt compelled to write this review because this HDMI cable does work brilliantly. I bought a 55 inch HDTV for Black Friday and couldn't wait to try it out with my Playstation 3. As a result I bought a Phillips 30 dollar 3ft long HDMI cable even though I had this one on the way. I was amazed by the clear and crisp quality the Phillips HDMI cable provided and worried that an 18 cent cable won't be able to match up. But it did and thankfully the Phillips HDMI cable can be returned. You won't go incorrect if you choose to buy this cable.

I got this cable because it was $3.50 including shipping and handling. So why not give it a try? I'm glad that I did because I'm using it to connect my PS3 with my Samsung 40" LCD TV, the image is incredible and it just works. Like countless others have said before, at a length of 3', you should not have to go with the super-fancy pricey cables.

I SPENT OVER $70 FOR MY FIRST HDMI CABLE AT BESTBUY LAST YEAR FOR MY PS3, SOMEONE STEPPED ON IT AND BROKE ONE OF THE ENDS, I WAS IN NO POSITION TO BUY A further $70 CABLE. I FIGURED WHY NOT TAKE A CHANCE SINCE THE PRICE WAS EXTREMELY CHEAP. AND IT WORKS Just so!!!! LIKE THE $70 CABLE. IF YOU NEED A HDMI CABLE AND WONDER IF THE PRICE IS TO Excellent TO BE Right...ITS Right! I BOUGHT IT FOR MY PS3 AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY!
